Lions Clubs Camp Kirk Foundation

The Lions Clubs Camp Kirk Foundation (L.C.C.K.F.) operating as a charitable foundation under the charitable corporations act of the Province of Ontario, held its first annual meeting, and thereby became a reality, in the month of July 1993. The L.C.C.K.F. operates according to a Constitution and By-Laws as approved by the government of the Province of Ontario and endorsed by Lions Clubs International.

The sole function of the L.C.C.K.F. is the maintenance, operations and construction of Lions Clubs Camp Kirk (L.C.C.K.)

The voting members of the Foundation for the purposes of the Annual Meeting are the members of the Board of Directors and the Presidents of each Lions and Lioness Club within District A-16.

L.C.C.K. is located at Kirkfield, Ontario, on Highway 48 immediately east of the village. There is a mix of meadowland, forest and a beaver pond on the property, making it an ideal site for the camp.

L.C.C.K. was built and paid for by the Lions and Lioness Clubs of District A-16 between the years 1990 and June 1993. During this building stage, many clubs contributed the amount necessary for the construction of a cabin and their contributions are recognized by having their name on their cabin. In most instances, the contributing club also undertook the construction of the cabin. General contributions were used for the construction of other buildings such as the dining hall, washrooms, etc.

The Lions Clubs International Foundation contributed $50,000.00 towards its construction. The total cost of the L.C.C.K. facility was approximately $610,000.00.

L.C.C.K. was created by the Lions and Lioness Clubs of District A-16 as a residential summer camp for boys and girls who suffer with learing disabilities and is operated during the summer season by the Friends of the Learning Disabled.

Funding for the Foundation comes from our Annual Golf Tournament, donations from Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs, an annual 50/50 Draw and through the Lions Clubs Camp Kirk Fellowship program. The Fellowships are available for presentation to anyone but must be obtained through a Lions entity such as a club or district. They may not be purchased by individuals. For more information regarding obtaining a Fellowship, contact any of the members of the Board of Directors.
